Clay Bar Lubricant Water

I just bought some claybars off amazon and now i noticed they say you don t need a lubricant just use water.

Is the car wash soap which is supposed to lubricate and suspend dirt an adequate clay bar lubricant. Using clay bar with water meguiars tends to say it is best to have some sort of lubrication as in a soap or detailer spray not just water alone. I would not use water as a lubricant myself.
