One place i would rather not have marble is as a window sill.
If you wanted to remove the sill unfortunately the time to do so should have been when you removed the old window and before.
Make sure that there aren t any glossy spots left in the marble the paint won t stick to it.

I m not sure if there s a way to bring the shine back to the marble but you can paint anything.
