Can you kilz subflooring prior to laminate.
If you decide to float the system like a laminate floor using kilz or another primer wouldn t be needed since the underlayment you place between the subfloor and the plank would act as a moisture barrier.

We want to rip out of the carpet and lay down new laminate flooring and we were recommended to buy kilz oil based primer to get rid of the pet urine on the floors.

If you want to ignor this make sure the sub floor is smooth and then apply a wood sealer.

1 plan to kilz paint the 3 4 plywood sub floor to try to reduce any moisture that may migrate up from the higher humidity in the basement.
Wood and concrete are the idea subfloors.
Major uneven floors may get an overlay of luan plywod.
Don t know about concrete check the kilz label.
In some instances you might be able to install your flooring over an existing floor but it is important to check prior to installation if it is a suitable material.
The laminate was installed in two large pieces so there is only one seam and it blends in so well you never notice it.
But i have to agree with the person who said the sub floor may need to be removed.
Or you may store it outdoors under a tarp with blocks underneath the bottom sheet to keep it from touching the ground.

Laminate flooring cannot ever be installed on a subfloor made of carpet or padding.

Yes i agree with the under layment installation first for floor tile.
Unless the subfloor is seriously uneven and it can t be corrected reasonably by screwing it down into the floor joists the installer will likely just lay the hardwood over minor uneven subfloor.
The previous owners had pets who seemed to have peed around the house.
